3 female students injured in UNIMAID hostel fire

3 female students of the University Of Maiduguri Murtala, UNIMAID were reportedly injured an properties destroyed in the fire outbreak in the female hostel on Saturday.

This is the second time of which this kind of incident is occurring in the school just in one month.

The fire is suspected to have started from a cooking stove, which was put our almost immediately by the university fire service.

Commenting on this development, the Director, Public Relations, of the university, Prof. Danjuma Gambo, said that the preliminary investigations had shown that the incident was caused by a Kerosene explosion and that the 3 female students were in the hospital as they were injured.

Gambo, who described the incident as an unfortunate one, said the university management was taking steps to enforce more fire safety regulations in students’ hostels.
