Legendary Barcelona player Sergio Busquets has refuted suggestions that Lionel Messi played a role in his decision to quit the Catalan club this summer.
Contrary to rumors, Busquets indicated his intention to quit Barcelona is unrelated to Messi’s future and that he has received numerous offers from various teams.
After the celebration of this season’s La Liga championship, Busquets was bombarded with media inquiries.
Busquets was the center of attention as he was inexorably questioned about perhaps changing his mind and returning to Camp Nou for an additional season after leaving Barcelona.
The Barcelona veteran answered when asked about his next club after the Spaniard stated that he would not change his mind (via Barca Universal):
“I have not signed anything yet.
“There is interest from several clubs, but I won’t make a decision until the end of the season, now it is time to enjoy!”
He added,
“My future linked to Messi’s? Everyone wants to play with Leo, he is the best in the world. But my future is not linked to Leo’s future.”
