Liverpool defender virgil van dijk extend contract
The Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has extended his contract with the club until the summer of 2025.
The Holland international has been an outstanding success since he joined Liverpool from Southampton for £75m(75 million euro) in January 2018 and his performances led to him becoming the best defender in the world, the mainstay of a team that went on to win the Champions League and Premier League.
He was due to be out of contract in June 2023 but Liverpool have revamped his terms and the contract will run to June 2025.
Van Dijk made his comeback to first-team action in pre-season after nine months out with a serious knee injury sustained in October’s Merseyside derby.

Van Dijk added: “I feel like I am ready for the weekend, so we’ll see what the manager decides. It is going to be a totally different atmosphere and mindset for me personally as well.”
Klopp said: “It’s great news. The good thing about this signing is we know him already.
“It was very difficult last year, but he is back on track. Absolutely great, great news. Imagine we had to buy him now. Thank God we only have to give him a new contract.”
