Kylian Mbappe, the attacker for Paris Saint-Germain, has revealed that he was “not supposed to play” in their Champions League round of 16 first leg against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
Mbappe came on in the second half but couldn’t avert a 1-0 loss at the Parc des Princes.
On February 1, the France international suffered a hamstring injury, and the Ligue 1 club first indicated he would be sidelined for three weeks.
But Mbappe entered the game in the 57th minute and shifted the tempo, scoring two goals that were disallowed for offside.
“I wasn’t supposed to play but I wanted to play and help my mates.
“We did everything, we worked night and day to get me some game time.
“I wanted to [start the game]. But sometimes you have to be satisfied with what you can do, and that’s all I could do,” Mbappe said.
