Former Liverpool great Jose Enrique has slammed the club’s players, including Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, following the club’s 5-2 first-leg Champions League defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Enrique stated that Salah and Van Dijk were utterly off against Real Madrid, while Alexander-Arnold has struggled for Liverpool this season.
He also chastised Liverpool for selling Sadio Mane and instead adding Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo.
In an interview with talkSPORT, Enrique stated:
“I don’t think it is one problem, first of all I think some of the players want everything, my honest opinion – the biggest one – is that they did not really buy the players that they needed.
“You cannot let Sadio Mane [go], then buy Darwin and Gakpo – players that still need to be made in the Premier League, they have been OK, but they are not Mane.
“Salah as well, he looks off completely, Van Dijk looks off completely, Trent has been really bad this season as well.”
