According to local reports, Barajah attempted to imitate the fast by forsaking both water and food.
The pastor, who also taught French, was said to have suffered from?severe anemia? and was unable to digest meals due to internal organ damage.
According to one of Barajah’s neighbors, the clergyman grew ill on the 25th day of his fast, but his health deteriorated significantly on the 38th day.
