Daniel Chigozie, 30, was detained by Amotekun Corps agents for reportedly selling his son to three different customers in Ogun State.
According to David Akinremi, commandant of the Corps in Ogun State, the security agency received information that the father had sold his 9-month-old kid, Daniel Chinonye Darlington, to three distinct buyers at various locations in the Sango, Meiran, and Apapa region of Lagos.
Between August 2022 and February 2023, it was learned that the suspect received payments of N150,000, N400,000, and N700,000 from three different unidentified customers.
Akinremi claims that the son was retrieved from each of the buyers after each sale until he sold him to the last buyer, identified as Dr. Nosa, in Apapa, following an investigation by the corps. The man is suspected of working with a criminal syndicate.
The suspect admitted to the crime and now resides in Abela, Sango-Ota, in the state’s Ado-Odo Local Government Area.
The National Agency for the Prevention of Trafficking in People (NAPTIP) is profiling him in preparation for a follow-up investigation to locate the youngster and for criminal prosecution.
