Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram are down for many users.
The Facebook Inc said that it’s working to restore access to its social media platforms including WhatsApp and Instagram after a global outage.
The three apps are owned by Facebook and they all run on shared infrastructure. They all completely stopped working at about 5pm on Monday 4th of October 2021.
According to outage website Downdetector.com, the platforms were down for tens of thousands of users.
With problems being reported at about 15:45 GMT, the website was showing outages in heavily populated areas like Washington, DC and Paris.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products,” Facebook wrote on Twitter. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
When the Facebook website was visited, there was an error page that the site could not be reached.
The WhatsApp and Instagram apps worked but did not show new contents.
