A woman attacked her husband’s second wife at their wedding, as seen in a video posted online.
As was typical in their customs, the bride (an Amarya) who was to hold her wedding on that day went to the first wife to meet her.
To her astonishment, the first wife slapped the second wife hard, sending her crashing to the floor, and then descended on her, obviously angry at her husband’s choice to take a second wife.
The other women who had gathered to watch the action were seen attempting to break up the fight between the two women.
@fulani tutor, a Twitter user who shared the video, wrote:
“In fulani culture setting, when a man re marry, the bride (Amarya) will go and greet the first wife, to show respect,
The (First wife) seized this opportunity to attack the bride.
This is wrong, there is no justification to this act.
Kaajal na ko ginnaji?”
