David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known as Davido is an American – Nigerian Singer, Songwriter, and record producer. He was born on November 21, 1992(30 years old ) in Atalanta, Georgia, the United States to Mr. Adeleke, a businessman who deals in Real Estat,e, and Mrs. Veronica Adeleke, A lecturer at Babcock, University, Osun state.
Dr. Veronica Adeleke, I made died in 2003 at 39 years when Davido was 10 or 11 years old, she reportedly died of cardiac arrest on Davido’s dad’s birthday
He attended International School, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. He then proceeded to study business administration at Oakwood University, Huntsville, Alabama, Davido later dropped out of school in 2001 and relocated back to Nigeria. After much deliberations with his dad, he enrolled at Babcock University, Ogun state, and finally graduated in2015 with first class in Music.
Career
Davido’s interest in music begin when he was at Oakwood University, which promote him to start producing his music. He released his first single back when on the 7th of May 2011. He was signed into HKN label record that was owned and managed by his brother Adewale Adeleke. this song received attention for its mix of clubby production, high energy vocals, and afro-pop rhythm, it was followed by his debut studio album ” Obo baba olowo” which was released by HKN music in July 17, 2012.
He became well known and quickly may make his way to the known musician in Nigeria as success came quickly for Davido, accumulating fans. He released two singles in 2013 ” Skelewu” and ” Globe “, Skelewu was a hit, as it promoted a new unique dance style that trend for years. He released ” Aye” on the 1st of February 2014, this song took the music industry by storm. He collaborated with South African star Mafikiolo to record and drop the song ” Good life ” he later went on to drop more singles
In 2016 he signed a contract with RCA Records a subsidiary of Sony music. After some months he founded his own record label company “DMW”
On October 21, 2016, he released ” Son of Mercy ” a debut Ep, the Ep comprises Five tracks and it was supported by Nasty C, Simi, and Tinashe, it was also supported by singles ” Gbagbe Oshi “, ” How long ” and ” coolest kid in Africa”
He went to release singles some of them are ” IF” on the 17th of February 2017, the song was written and produced by Tekno, ” Fall ” on the 2nd of June 2017, ” FIA ” on the 10th of November 2017, ” Assurance” on the 30 of April 2018 to celebrate his girlfriend Chioma Avril Rowland
He released his second album ” A Good time ” on November 22, 2019, through Davido Music worldwide, RRecordsrds, and Sony Music, this album later become the most-streamed album ever. He realized ” A better time ” which was released on November 12, 2020, is the third studio album released by Davido.
