A worst variant of the dreaded COVID-19 virus, known as Omicron has been detected in south Africa and others.
Scientist discovered a new variant of COVID-19 called B.1.1.529 and her still working to understand the virus potential implications.
The virus has already been detected in South Africa, Hong Kong, Israel and Botswana with over 100 confirmed cases.
According to BBC, the variant has been given the name ‘Omicron’.
According to WHO, Omicron has a large number of mutations, some of which are concerning an so, preliminary evidence suggests an increased risk of reinfection with this variant, as compared to other Variants of Concern.
We are advised to continue to adhere to proven public health and social measures such as wearing well-fitting masks, hand hygiene, physical distancing, improving ventilation of indoor spaces, avoiding crowded spaces, and getting vaccinated.
