A student identified as Ojo Akinola Iyanu from the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa in Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Area of the state, was arrested by the police for trying to disrupt an ongoing exam in the school.
As reported by Instablog, the examination was billed to have been conducted but due to disagreement between the school management and students over an issue which is unspecified, the exam was rescheduled for October 26, 2021.
The arrangement for the exam to start October 26, did not go down well with some of the student and for this reason they planned to disrupt and cause chaos in order to compel the school management to reschedule the exam again. These students were suspected to be cultists.
According to the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was nabbed on Tuesday following credible intelligence that some cultists had planned to disrupt the polytechnic’s examination.
He said to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the polytechnic, the police in collaboration with other security agencies, were said to have engaged in proper screening of all students before entering into the examination hall right from the main gate and as the screening was going on, the suspect and one other person who was later identified as Aloma, were intercepted with a black bag.
While they were searching the bag, the other boy ran leaving Ojo Akinola Iyanu who was quickly arrested.
While Ojo Akinola Iyanu was being interrogated, he confessed that he was a member of the Aiye confraternity and said that they tried to disrupt the exam because it came suddenly and met them unprepared.
He also said that the black bag contained one locally-made pistol, loaded with one live cartridge.
